Registration is now open for the 2012 IDEAS Boston conference, the University of Massachusetts Boston’s annual celebration of the most dynamic and provocative thinkers in the region. IDEAS Boston brings innovators from the worlds of science, psychology, foreign affairs, climate change, and the startup economy, inviting them to share their big ideas.
This year’s forum will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at IDEAS Boston’s permanent home, UMass Boston. Tom Ashbrook, host of NPR’s On Point on WBUR, will return as moderator.
“We are thrilled to host IDEAS Boston at the University of Massachusetts Boston again this year,” said Chancellor J. Keith Motley. “As Boston’s public research university, our campus is a hub of innovation and creativity, and we are so pleased to offer a forum that furthers the discussion around how our region can continue to lead the nation in this area.”
This year’s speakers include a private pilot who has invented a “plane you can drive,” a climate change expert who designs games that teach about extreme weather events, a psychologist who analyzes the way emotions effect social behavior, and the founder of an open-source directory that helps consumers learn where products really come from.
