Office of Communications
Voting Open through May 4 at 5 p.m.
University of Massachusetts Boston students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members have an opportunity to decide who will win the People’s Choice award in the third annual My UMass Boston student video contest.
The videos, created by eight student entrants, are now posted on the university’s YouTube channel. Web visitors have until 5 p.m. on Friday, May 4 to “like” their favorite. (Instructions are posted on the My UMass Boston webpage.) The student filmmaker with the most “likes” at the end of the voting period will win $100.
A committee of staff members will separately judge the videos on overall quality, creativity, strength of the message/story presented, quality of videography and editing, musical accompaniment (if any), and special effects (if any). That committee will select first, second, and third place winners. First prize is $400, second prize is $300, and third prize is $200. A single entry can win one of these prizes as well as the People’s Choice award, so a student can win up to $500.
The prize winners will be announced by mid-May.
